This project aims at creating an application that allows the download of data from total station devices, a task which is usually done by proprietary, dedicated and Windows-only software.
This project was started within grupporicerche as part of the IOSA project for making it easier to manage different models of total stations, often used in the same fieldwork unit, mainly in a GNU/Linux environment. However, trying to develop following standards, porting to Windows or Mac shouldn't be difficult.
Every model has its own quirks. So, we use a modular structure, that is based on an abstract interface. Each time a new model is added to the program, you create a new instance of this base class, with all the needed data.
Total Open Station is in a early phase of development and there isn't a release available yet. Alpha quality code can be accessed through the Mercurial repository .
A list of users and companies who have already chosen Total Open Station is available on the users page.
The developer's documentation is available from the docs/ directory. It is generated with Sphinx and is available also in source reST format. Please note that the available documentation may not reflect the actual state of the application or provide possibly outdated information.
Everybody loves screenshots, right? You find them at the Sharesource project site http://sharesource.org/project/totalopenstation/screenshots
Support is available through the mailing list. Subscribe to request support for new models or submit bugs.
Total Open Station is free software released under the GNU General Public License version 3 or later.
